Familytree 'Elaine' Semillon 2013
Made exclusively for Familytree Wine Club members, these wines are named after people in our family trees. They are very unique wines made as a “one off” from carefully selected batches of fruit and only made in great vintages. Only available from the winery, these wines will be different from vintage to vintage and stocks are very limited.
The Familytree white wine will be a young and fresh Semillon from this year's vintage. The Margaret River Wine Region is world renowned for its blending of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, although our winemaker found this great little batch of delicious citrusy Semillon all by itself, so we decided to keep it that way. Made exclusively for our Familytree Wine Club members and named after someone in our Wine Club, this Semillon shows wonderful aromas of lemon and lime, with hints of herbs and grass. A delicate palate with sharp citrus and complex stone fruit flavours with a dry tight mineral finish. Served chilled and enjoy with seafood.
Congratulations to Familytree Wine Club member Bob Allo who has won the "Name the Wine" Competition! His entry was to name the wine after his wife, who has similar characters as the wine.... He has won two cases of both the 'Elaine' Semillon and the 'Frank' Tempranillo, plus the privilege and honour to name the wine after his wife! Thank you to everyone who entered.
"This Semillon reflects my wife's characteristics; delicate but with a sharp sense of humour, a complex thinker who is entertaining in any company. After 30 years I continue to find her refreshing company - oh, and she's loves her seafood." Bob Allo – Wine Club Member.
Upon hearing the good news, Bob said "That's brilliant! The label designs on Flametree Wines are always very stylish, but having a wine named after my wife, Elaine – that's special! Can't wait to try the wine."
Colour of pale yellow with tinge of green. This wine shows wonderful aromas of lemon and lime, with hints of herbs and grass. An elegant palate, with citrus and stone fruit flavours, lingering hay and a dry tight mineral finish. A small portion of the wine was barrel fermented in French oak, this complexes the palate with hints of spice and vanilla.
Cellar short term.
