Family tree ‘Sgt David J Lewis’ Tempranillo Touriga 2015
WINEMAKING NOTES
The Familytree wines are made exclusively for you, our wine club members and are named after people in our family tree and yours. They are “one off” wines from carefully selected batches of fruit that stood out for being unique or interesting in that particular vintage, never to be made again.
“In this centenary year of the Battle of the Somme 1916, I feel that naming this wine after our grandfather, Sgt David John Lewis, who was killed in action at the Somme, would honour all soldiers killed or injured on the Western Front. David’s legacy and memory continues to live on through his family”
Ashley Lewis – Wine Club Member
TASTING NOTES
This year’s Family tree red is a blend of Tempranillo and Touriga, showing red fruits in the raspberry and cherry spectrum supported by hints of freshly dusted cocoa. It captures the rustic yet opulent fruit of the Tempranillo grape and the savoury underlying power of the Touriga grape. Open fermentation with 20% whole bunches has produced a wine with vibrant red fruit flavours, savoury tannins and a beautifully dry finish.
BLEND
86% Tempranillo, 8% Touriga, 6% Shiraz
