Family tree 'Aleksy' Gewurztraminer 2018
STORY BEHIND THE WINE
“Aleksy Boleslaw Augustyniak (1934-2018) A seafarer and adventurer, Aleksy grew up in Poland and endured the Nazi occupation of WWII. A champion boxer in his youth, he survived many adventures including several years in an Indian prison after being caught smuggling whiskey during prohibition, later escaping from communist Poland as a stowaway in the hold of a cargo ship, married in Hamburg and finally immigrated to Australia. As a young man smoking a cigar in a tailored suit or as a father camping in the Australian outback with his three boys - Aleksy believed in hard work, following his dreams, never giving up and enjoying life to the full”
