SRS Shiraz 2010
The 2010 SRS Shiraz is a combination of 2 Frankland River vineyards, Acacia and Riversdale. Machine harvested fruit was delivered in the early hours before being crushed and transferred into open fermenters. Both batches were then inoculated with yeast and fermented in open pots over several weeks. Both were hand plunged and then pressed to tank soon after the fermentation was complete. After MLF the two batches were transferred into 40% new French oak for 16 months maturation before bottling in January 2012.
The 2010 vintage was a great year for Frankland Shiraz. The wines show fantastic varietal characteristics of blood plums, blueberry, liquorice, spice and scorched earth. This wine has a deep colour combined with a lovely core of ripe fruit and a firm tannin backbone. The strong dark fruits in the 2010 SRS Shiraz make it the perfect wine to accompany strong meat flavours. The 2010 Frankland Shiraz will age well for up to 10 years for those patient enough to wait that long.
